Should I Filter My Water?

Filter My Water: The Importance of water filters and water filtration

Water is a life-sustaining fluid that’s essential to our health, however drinking straight out of the tap can undermine your health. When you drink tap water, you’re consuming chlorine, fluoride and possibly many other chemicals and contaminants that are found in tap water.  Some of these include trihalomethanes, hormones, pesticides, herbicides and even trace amounts of prescription drugs.

Tap water is dirtier than it looks, even “clean” drinking water that flows from the tap isn’t what most of us would think of as clean. It’s traveled through a vast array of pipelines, picking up contaminants, pesticides and industrial run-offs along the way. It’s been disinfected with potential carcinogens like chlorine, ammonia and or chloramines, then “fortified” with fluoride. While disinfection is a necessary evil — without it, water-borne illnesses would be a constant problem — drinking, showering and bathing every day with these chemicals found in our tap water can lead to many issues from skin problems to diseases.

Bottled water isn’t any better, cleaner, or good for our planet. Put simply, there’s just no good reason to drink bottled water. Bottled water is virtually unregulated, expensive, and even the EPA says it’s not necessarily safer than tap water. It’s also insanely wasteful; an estimated three litres of water is needed to produce just one litre, and the oil required to produce each plastic bottle is equivalent to a quarter of that bottle. What’s worse, most of those bottles wind up in the ocean and in landfills, polluting and poisoning waters and wildlife.

Don’t bathe in chemicals. Showers should not include daily exposure to chlorine, carcinogens and vaporized chemical contaminants being absorbed into your skin and inhaled into your lungs. Without a shower filter or whole house filter system it does. Click here for the whole house filter system.

Water filtration is a simple way to support your health by preventing toxic chemicals and carcinogens from entering your body and everyone should do it. Click here for Reverse Osmosis water filters.
