How Whole House Water Filters work
Whole house water filter systems work from the water supplies point of entry to the property. They can be fitted anywhere after the water meter and provide filtered water throughout the property. The water will be filtered from contaminants such as sediments, chlorine and trihalomethanes.
The systems are designed to be efficient by not reducing water flow pressure and effective in removing contaminants. However, in order to maintain a filtered water flow rate of 46 litres per minute to the property, the filter pore size cannot be reduced to the microscopic size needed to filter fluoride and other microscopic contaminants. Therefore, a Reverse Osmosis system is always recommended to be installed for drinking purposes.
The filtration process of the units initiates as the water flows through the first stage in the filter housing screening and eliminating any sediment before further flowing to the second stage.
The second stage filter is where the high volume activated carbon block cartridge efficiently removes any potential organic chemicals such as chlorine, herbicides, pesticides, bad taste and odours.
A third stage of filtration can also be found in our systems which consists of another carbon block filter further filtering and removing contaminants which could have possibly passed the second stage.
